  • What inspires you about working with tech companies?

I'm a builder at heart and I love playing a (small) part in our companies' growth story.

  • What inspired you to become an emerging companies and venture capital lawyer?

I'm drawn to why people have the bravery and audacity to create a company from nothing and believe they are the ones to do it. I left private practice in 2010, worked in-house for 11 years (both at a large public company and two high-growth startups) and co-founded a company myself before coming back to a firm; today, I am driven to continue to learn from the builders in the space and contribute through my own experiences in doing the same.

  • Tell us about a favorite client or project.

I love working with companies whose work touches my life and the people I care about. I started working in consumer early in my career because it was relatable and I understood it; I have become deeply involved in digital health and fintech as well because the challenges these companies solve have a direct, visible impact.

  • If you weren't a tech lawyer, what would you do?

I worked in professional baseball from age 13 through college and came very close to taking a job with an MLB club instead of going to law school, so I'm sure it would be baseball-related.

My practice spans the entire corporate lifecycle, from inception to exit/liquidity, and includes work across a variety of industries, including biotech, pharma, AI, clean tech and software. In my prior legal life, I advised private equity, venture capital and hedge funds on all aspects of their fund operations, as well as institutional fund investors on their private fund and direct investments. My experience spans the entire private capital ecosystem, which allows me to understand the specific wants, needs, concerns and goals of all of the players operating in the ecosystem.

Clients I've worked with: Aledade | Deel | Warburg Pincus | Fifth Wall | Spiritus Technologies

    • What inspires you about working with tech companies?

The energy radiating out of these companies and the ecosystem as a whole is infectious – it gives meaning to the work that we do to support our clients.

    • What inspired you to become an emerging companies and venture capital lawyer?

I pivoted practices in 2021 because I wanted to work with the founders, entrepreneurs, and investors who are (re-)shaping the world.

    • If you weren't a tech lawyer, what would you do?

      I would own and operate a gym/brewery.

    • What is your ideal weekend?

Spending time with my wife and kids. There would also be some gym time, sports and beer/wine involved, but family first always.

    • If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?

      Time travel.

    • What's your mantra?

Hard work beats talent when talent refuses to work hard.
