Staff & Paralegal Job Opportunities

We don’t use the expression “non-lawyers” at Orrick. That’s because our professional staff brings essential skills and talents to our firm. Without our extraordinary team, we could not represent our clients, make a social impact or innovate. We certainly wouldn’t be one of the Fortune 100 best companies to work for. So we refer to you by your professional role: Digital Content Strategist, Pitch and Pursuits Specialist, Trial Technology Manager, Financial Analyst, or Business Intelligence System Engineer.

We’re committed to attracting and inspiring the best staff of any law firm. That begins with our “one team” culture. We work seamlessly across departments, roles and more than 25 offices globally with a single-minded focus on getting the best results and delivering distinctive client service.

Our Global Operations & Innovation Center: While we have staff roles in all of our offices, our largest team is at our Global Operations & Innovation Center (GOIC) in Wheeling, W.V. The first insourcing center of its kind in a U.S.-based law firm, the GOIC continues to pioneer the way legal services are delivered. We are proud to attract talent from the greater Pittsburgh area and the Ohio Valley to this growing professional center. With our 15+ years as a Wheeling community member, nowhere is our culture of teamwork, innovation and social impact stronger. Teams at the GOIC include Orrick Analytics, an efficient solution that integrates technology and process sophistication into due diligence, data analysis and document reviews; and Global Employment and Equity Compensation service, which operates as an extension of our clients’ global HR function.

Paralegals are valued as key members of our Client Services teams. Our paralegals work closely with our lawyers and other staff on all phases of cases and transactions, helping us deliver services effectively and manage workflow efficiently. Responsibilities vary by practice and role, but they generally include research, drafting documents, closing and trial preparation, and assistance with special client projects. Paralegals come to us from diverse employment and academic backgrounds. Whether you’re an experienced paralegal or just getting started, we offer great opportunities.

  • As a Career Paralegal, you’ll have significant responsibility and lots of opportunity for professional growth. You’ll build on your prior experience to take on new and interesting opportunities, including advanced project management, research, due diligence and other specialized roles.
  • Entry-level candidates interested in a career as a paralegal or looking for exposure to the legal profession before pursuing law school or graduate school will find exciting, professional opportunities. Entry-level paralegals, known as Practice Assistants, get firsthand exposure to case and deal preparation. You’ll work directly with lawyers and Career Paralegals as key players on our client services teams.

Regardless of where you are in your career, you’ll have the resources and support to succeed. You’ll also be working for the most innovative law firm in the field. We have state-of- the-art technology, including a customized litigation case management system and a sophisticated document review function called Orrick Analytics.

We want you to grow in your role, so we provide you with access to IT, case management and practice-area-specific training, including our in-house CLE curriculum.

If you’re committed to excellence, thrive on teamwork and have a little grit, we want to talk with you!

Training & Resources: We want our staff to grow and have a career path with us, so we offer a comprehensive skills and teamship training curriculum. Our leadership training for managers and directors covers everything from coaching and inspiring your team to building your personal brand. We bring in one of the winningest coaches in collegiate sports to help teach these programs. We also give our teams access to the best technology and other professional tools, including mobile access to our systems. And we offer a culture that is committed to excellence but is also unstuffy, inclusive and real.

Benefits: We offer comprehensive benefits globally. Benefits vary among offices, but some of the perks we offer in the U.S. and UK include backup child care, along with a wide range of innovative family-friendly support like discounted tutoring and test preparation services for students of all ages, and eldercare planning and long-term care assistance. We offer a leading staff parental leave program in the U.S., with 14 weeks’ paid leave and seven months’ job protection for primary caregivers, as well as non-primary caregiver leave. In many offices, we provide an annual comprehensive on-site health evaluation and hold team wellness competitions each year. As part of our Orrick Cares program, you can also use a day each year to participate in a community service activity. .

If you’re looking for an opportunity to make an impact, you have a little grit and you thrive on teamwork, we want to talk with you.
