Our German team has a strong record executing Germany-based and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions. We regularly advise German MDAX companies on strategic M&A transactions, such as process technology supplier GEA on its acquisition of Hilge, and HELLA on sales of its airport lighting business to the TKH Group (listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange) and its industrial and outdoor business to Wünsche Group. In the biotech and pharma space, we advised leading immunotherapy firm Definiens on its acquisition by AstraZeneca and PHW Group on its sale of Lohmann Animal Health to Eli Lilly and Co. For Cisco, we formed an international joint venture with Bosch and ABB to develop smart home solutions. We recently helped global triathlon leader IRONMAN acquire Lagardère Sports’ endurance division, a transaction that involved assets in eight countries.
We have an active practice financing tech ventures, such as virtual reality solutions provider RE’FLEKT and cancer diagnostics company Neo New Oncology, which we also advised on its sale to Siemens. We advised Aesculap on its investment in Neuroloop, one of Germany’s largest university spinoffs. JUVE cites our team for our "technology-oriented VC expertise."
We provide comprehensive solutions for our corporate clients in Germany, including cybersecurity and data protection, employment law, and antitrust advising. Our German Cybersecurity & Data Privacy team is part of a global team that advises German and international clients on compliance with EU, U.S. and other international data protection laws. We regularly represent clients before data protection supervisory authorities, with a focus on international data transfers.
Our Dispute Resolution team is led by one of the most experienced arbitrators in Europe, who is ranked Band 1 by Chambers and serves on the World Bank’s Panel of Conciliators. Our team is called on by private investors, international companies and sovereign entities to provide representation in a wide range of complex cross-border disputes.
Our German Energy team has advised investors on the development and acquisition of solar parks and wind farms across Europe. Most recently, we advised project developer Schöller Wind on the sale of a portfolio of wind farms in Germany, and multinational power company STEAG on the sale of a stake to HAWAR Group of Qatar. In a novel transaction, we advised German solar developer BELECTRIC on the conversion of the former Russian military air force base into Europe’s largest solar power plant.
Our Munich office is located next to the historic marketplace Viktualienmarkt in Munich city center, and our Düsseldorf office is in the heart of the city’s historic district, opposite the Opernhaus (Opera House) and within walking distance of many other cultural institutions.
