The 2017 edition of the peer directory Chambers USA recognizes Orrick for leadership across 36 practice areas. These include the practices of greatest importance to clients in the three sectors on which we focus: tech, energy & infrastructure, and finance. Additionally, Orrick lawyers received 91 individual rankings in the 2017 guide.
Highlights
Our teams earned 18 transactional and 18 litigation and regulatory practice rankings nationally and in California, the District of Columbia, New York, Texas and Washington.
Chambers calls Orrick a “go-to firm for household names” in the tech industry. We earned 10 practice rankings, including in Corporate/M&A, Venture Capital, Startups & Emerging Companies, IT & Outsourcing, and IP. Together, our tech lawyers earned 14 individual rankings.
Chambers USA named Orrick Power Firm of the Year. Our energy & infrastructure team earned Band 1 rankings nationally in PPP and Renewables & Alternative Energy, and in California for Energy: State Regulatory & Litigation, along with national rankings for Energy: Electricity and Projects: Power. Our E&I lawyers earned 18 individual rankings. One client told Chambers: "Those Orrick people jump through hoops for us and their advice is top-notch," while another said: “A high-quality, full-service shop, the team provides good value and balances a commercial mindset with the ability to spot real issues for its clients.”
In finance, we earned six practice rankings in Banking & Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring, Real Estate, Securitization and Native American Law. Our lawyers also earned 20 individual rankings. Our litigation and regulatory teams earned 18 rankings, including nationwide rankings for Appellate, Employment, IP and Securities Litigation. Our White Collar Crime & Government Investigations team is recognized in both California and Washington, D.C., and we are also recognized nationally for International Trade: Export Controls & Economic Sanctions. Chambers also recognized our practice strengths in Antitrust, Commercial, Insurance and Securities Litigation. Together, our litigators received 37 individual rankings. According to Chambers, “Sources commend the firm's ‘experienced and deep bench,’ adding: ‘They have handled so many different cases, there's almost nothing they haven't seen.’”
Additionally, the firm is ranked for the first time in Texas for Latin American Investment, reflecting the recent addition of our 41-lawyer Houston team. One client told Chambers: “Orrick has put together a great team - they each complement each other very well.”
