September.17.2015

Orrick was named “International Firm of the Year – Intellectual Property” at the China Law & Practice Awards, held on September 17, 2015 in Beijing.

Orrick has resolved more than 100 cross-border intellectual property (IP) disputes in China, including matters related to patents, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights for numerous multinational corporations operating in China. The team is consistently recognized for having one of the top IP practices in the China legal market. Asian Legal Business and IAM Patent 1000 have both ranked Orrick’s China IP team top tier for the past three years, with the latter noting that the firm is “home to some of the best patent lawyers in Asia.” Earlier this year, Managing Intellectual Property also ranked Orrick “Tier 1” for patent matters in China in its 2015 IP Stars survey and shortlisted Orrick as “China Foreign Firm of the Year” in recognition of our patent, trademark and copyright work.

Orrick has also recently welcomed two Taiwan-focused IP lawyers – E. Patrick (“Pat”) Ellisen and Ya-Chiao Chang. Pat focuses on IP protection, counseling and enforcement. Ya-Chiao represents international corporations, Taiwanese and PRC companies in a broad range of complex IP matters, with a focus on U.S. patent litigation.

The China Law & Practice Awards celebrate trailblazing deals, precedent-setting cases and top-quality practitioners in China. Winners are chosen based on the complexity and market impact of their matters, as well as their ability to incorporate novel and progressive legal structures, reconcile inconsistencies in the law or contribute to reform.
