Michael Weil, an Employment partner in the San Francisco office, represents clients in high-stakes employment, trade secrets and employee mobility litigation throughout the United States. Michael was recognized as a Rising Star in his field by Law360.
Michael's practice focuses on matters involving trade secrets, restrictive covenants, employee mobility issues, wrongful termination and discrimination. He has also defended numerous wage-and-hour class actions and representative actions under state and federal laws, including claims for overtime, vacation, meal and rest break penalties, waiting-time penalties and other alleged Labor Code violations. Finally, Michael counsels clients on a wide variety of employment and related corporate issues.
Alex Stathopoulos, a senior associate in the San Francisco employment group, defends employers in complex wage and hour class actions and single plaintiff cases, and provides creative and practical counseling on a wide range of employment issues including new and developing areas of the law.
In 2018, Alex was named California Young Lawyers Association (CYLA) Section Liaison to the California Lawyers Association (CLA)
Labor and Employment Section, and is an editorial board member of the CLA Labor & Employment Section Law Review. She was also recently appointed as an Alternate Delegate to the American Bar Association (ABA) House of Delegates, the policymaking body of the nationwide group.
Alex defends employers in class and collective actions brought under federal and state wage and hour laws, including misclassification, meal and rest periods, off-the-clock work, expense reimbursement, and Private Attorney General Act (PAGA) claims. She also routinely defends employers in high-stakes single plaintiff cases involving leaves and accommodations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, wrongful termination, and trade secrets.
Her counseling practice focuses on providing advice to management, designing appropriate workplace policies and procedures, and offering creative and practical solutions to address a wide range of employment issues including new and developing areas of the law.

Employment lawyer Hannah Ghaffari takes each case’s legal, business and interpersonal elements into account. By approaching her case through the emotional and professional lens of all parties involved, she’s able to offer a more successful path to resolution.
Her cases involve a wide range of employment issues, such as wage and hour, pay equity, and discrimination disputes. Hannah also offers targeted counseling to help employers avoid and mitigate risk throughout the year.
In addition to employment, she has handled various business disputes, including breach of contract disputes on behalf of Microsoft, a defamation case, and a high-profile right of publicity case. She also represented Oracle in Oracle v. Google, a multi-billion dollar copyright trial.
Hannah is also active in Orrick’s pro bono program, having represented individuals seeking asylum in the United States and an individual seeking enforcement of a family support order in New York Family Court. She currently represents a family that was separated at the U.S. border.
Tierra D. Piens, a lawyer in Orrick’s San Francisco office, represents large corporations in high stakes and complex litigation.
Tierra has experience litigating in a variety of practice areas, including employment law, trade secrets misappropriation, and product liability. Her practice focuses on the representation of large corporate clients. Tierra also devotes a portion of her practice to providing pro bono services to nonprofit organizations and low income individuals.
Tierra received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she also earned a Law & Technology Certificate of Specialization as recognition for her extensive coursework in technology law. While attending law school, Tierra was a member of the Berkeley Technology and Law Journal, and an editor of the Berkeley Journal of African American Law and Policy. In addition to her scholarship, during law school she provided pro bono legal services to dozens of low-income families through the East Bay Community Law Center.
A former judicial extern on the Northern District of California, Tierra has experience navigating both the federal and state court systems.
As innovative companies push the boundaries of technology, they need lawyers who can apply today’s employment regulations to tomorrow’s business. To help her clients stay ahead, Kristina Pham offers clarity and precise guidance.
Kristina represents employers ranging from Fortune 500 employers to start-ups across all industries in multi-plaintiff, single plaintiff and class action lawsuits involving discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination claims. For example, on behalf of Twitter, she successfully helped fight off class action claims alleging gender discrimination in 2018. She also has extensive experience in wage and hour litigation and audits.
Kristina also counsels clients on the latest employment developments, helping them remain in compliance so they can avoid litigation before it arises. As a member of the firm’s Alternative Workforce Task Force, and the Sexual Harassment Task Force, she can offer immediate guidance on these critical employment areas.
In addition to her practice, Kristina uses her skills to enhance diversity and improve the community. She currently serves as Chair of the Silicon Valley Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s (SV-APABA) Scholarship Committee and member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee. While at Berkeley Law, she participated in the Education, Defense and Justice for Youth Clinic, where she represented clients facing expulsion or incarceration. She also directed the Alternative Dispute Resolution team, and was instrumental in leading several Berkeley Law students to victories at the national level.
Prior to law school, Kristina was a special education teacher in San Jose, CA.
Lara Graham is an employment law attorney in Orrick's San Francisco office.
Lara defends companies in class action, multi-plaintiff, and single plaintiff lawsuits under California and federal law. Lara has experience with litigation related to discrimination, pay equity, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage-and-hour claims.
Lara also has extensive pro bono experience representing low-income individuals. Through her pro bono work Lara gained trial experience, representing a pro bono client in federal court, and hearing experience, having argued in multiple state-court hearings on behalf of a pro bono client, and representing asylum seekers in immigration court.
Prior to joining Orrick, Lara served as a law clerk for the Hon. Judge Vanessa Zecher.
