Alexandra Stathopoulos Senior Associate Employment Law & Litigation

San Francisco

Alex Stathopoulos, a senior associate in the San Francisco employment group, defends employers in complex wage and hour class actions and single plaintiff cases, and provides creative and practical counseling on a wide range of employment issues including new and developing areas of the law.

Legal 500 has recognized Alex as a "stand-out" attorney "who communicates quickly, confidently, and efficiently" and noted that she is "prepared, firm, and patient in depositions, with opposing counsel and with witnesses, and thinks very well on her feet." In 2020, Alex was appointed to a three-year voting term on the Executive Committee for the California Lawyers Association (CLA) Labor and Employment Section. From 2018-2020, Alex served as the California Young Lawyers Association (CYLA) Section Liaison to the Labor and Employment Section. Alex is an editor and contributed to the CLA Labor & Employment Law Review. 

Alex defends employers in class and collective actions brought under federal and state wage and hour laws, including misclassification, meal and rest periods, off-the-clock work, expense reimbursement, and Private Attorney General Act (PAGA) claims.  She also routinely defends employers in high-stakes single plaintiff cases involving leaves and accommodations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, wrongful termination, and trade secrets.

Her counseling practice focuses on providing advice to management, designing appropriate workplace policies and procedures, and offering creative and practical solutions to address a wide range of employment issues including new and developing areas of the law.

Tierra D. Piens Managing Associate Employment Law & Litigation, Employment Advice & Counseling

San Francisco

Tierra D. Piens, a lawyer in Orrick’s San Francisco office, represents large corporations in high stakes and complex litigation.

Tierra has experience litigating a variety of employment law disputes, including class action and complex single-plaintiff cases involving alleged violations of wage-and-hours laws, discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination. 

She also maintains a robust employment law counseling practice that includes helping her clients make meaningful and sustainable changes to their approach to diversity.  She skillfully partners with clients to develop or improve their existing diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and policies. A burgeoning thought leader in the space, Tierra has been invited to participate in a number of panels and high-level discussions about representation in the law and technology sectors.  

Embodying her drive to find solutions to her clients' legal concerns, Tierra has quickly gained an expertise in advising employers of their rights, duties, and obligations as it pertains to conducting business during and after the global COVID-19 pandemic. 

While her practice focuses primarily on the representation of large corporate clients and emerging companies, Tierra also devotes a portion of her practice to providing pro bono services to nonprofit organizations and low income individuals. She also serves in several leadership roles at Orrick, including as a leader of the Black Lawyers of Orrick affinity group and on Orrick's Associates' Committee for the San Francisco office.

Tierra received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she also earned a Law & Technology Certificate of Specialization as recognition for her extensive coursework in technology law.

A former judicial extern on the Northern District of California, Tierra has experience navigating both the federal and state court systems.

Lara Graham Managing Associate Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution

San Francisco

Lara Graham is an employment law attorney in Orrick's San Francisco office.

Lara defends companies in class action, multi-plaintiff, and single plaintiff lawsuits under California and federal law.  Lara has experience with litigation related to discrimination, pay equity, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage-and-hour claims. 

Lara also has extensive pro bono experience representing low-income individuals.  Through her pro bono work Lara gained trial experience, representing a pro bono client in federal court, and hearing experience, having argued in multiple state-court hearings on behalf of a pro bono client, and representing asylum seekers in immigration court. 

Prior to joining Orrick, Lara served as a law clerk for the Hon. Judge Vanessa Zecher.
