Orrick Welcomes Asia Offshore Wind Advisor Jon Thursby

August.20.2021

Orrick welcomes Jon Thursby as a partner in our Energy & Infrastructure practice. Jon will further strengthen the firm's offshore wind capability in Asia. He will be based in Singapore where the firm has opened an office. Jon rejoins Evan Stergoulis, Simon Alsey, Ravinder Sandhu, Simon Folley and Adam Smith, partners in the firm's Energy & Infrastructure team in London, with whom Jon previously practiced with at Watson Farley & Williams. Our team recently published a definitive country-by-country analysis of the offshore wind market.

“Capital is clearly flowing through Singapore to support the acute need for energy transition and infrastructure modernization in Southeast Asia, and we look forward to supporting our clients internationally who are focused on this growing market,” said Blake H. Winburne, Orrick’s Energy & Infrastructure sector leader.

An experienced projects lawyer, Jon advises on the development and construction aspects of offshore wind and other large-scale renewables projects in Asia. He has advised on some of the most complex projects in the region, including the award-winning Changfang and Xidao offshore wind projects being developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners in Taiwan.

“I’m excited to join Orrick’s market-leading global energy and infrastructure platform and to rejoin my colleagues,” said Jon. "I look forward to supporting the firm's clients in developing and financing ambitious offshore wind and other renewables projects in Asia as we transition from fossil fuels to a greener and more sustainable future."

Orrick is Chambers ranked for energy and projects work in France, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, Africa and the United States (where we rank Band 1 nationwide in three categories: Renewables, Power and PPP/Infrastructure). Our team also ranks among the top 5 legal advisors in global renewables in Inframation’s and Inspiratia’s H1 2021 league tables.
