Orrick advised European investment company Gimv on the acquisition of Mannheim-based Medi-Markt Homecare-Service GmbH and Isenbüttel-based Medi Markt Service Nord Ost GmbH, as well as a number of affiliated companies.

With the support of Gimv, these two leading service providers in incontinence care will continue to grow in the coming years as the newly formed Medi Markt Group. A minority stake was acquired by the newly appointed CEO of Medi Markt Group, Markus Reichel.

The companies are specialized mail-order providers of homecare supplies, with a particular focus on absorbing incontinence, as well as revulsive incontinence, diabetes control, stoma care, enteral nutrition, disinfection, protection and personal hy-giene. The group employs approximately 225 people and has a combined annual turnover of more than €50 million.

Gimv is a European investment company, listed on Euronext Brussels, with over three decades of experience in private equity and venture capital. Gimv currently manages around €1.6 billion of investments in approximately 50 portfolio companies.

Gimv was advised by an Orrick team in Germany led by M&A and private equity partner Fabian von Samson-Himmelstjerna, who also advised Gimv earlier this year on their acquisition of leading photonics solutions provider Laser 2000.

Schradin (antitrust), Louisa Kallhoff and Sarah Erne (employment).

Specialist law firm D+B Rechtsanwälte advised in relation to healthcare regulatory aspects of the transaction. The D+B team was led by partner Ulrich Grau and further included partner Christian Pinnow and associates Stefan Stadelhoff and Nicole Jesche.
