Deutsch: Orrick gewinnt JUVE Award: Kanzlei des Jahres für Dispute Resolution
Congratulations to the Orrick Germany team, named Law Firm of the Year for Dispute Resolution at the 2020 JUVE Awards.
Highlighting the development of Orrick's German International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution practice, JUVE noted, "So many successes in just one year is rare.” During the past twelve months, our team was involved in the reversal of two large-volume arbitration awards. Although such a reversal is rare, the team prevailed before the Federal Court of Justice in an international plant construction dispute in the energy & infrastructure sector. The same success was also achieved before the Higher Regional Court Frankfurt am Main in a dispute over the spin-off and sale of a company that went bankrupt a short time later.
In addition, our team was recognized for its ability to win prominent new mandates. For example, the Federal Republic of Germany mandated Orrick to represent it in the much-noticed arbitration proceedings concerning the failed "passenger car toll" over more than half a billion euros.
Other accomplishments during the past year include an arbitral post-M&A dispute in the field of life sciences/biotechnology, the successful representation of the Republic of North Macedonia in an investment arbitration and the subsequent termination proceedings, and the enforcement of substantial payment claims for a large European telecommunications company.

Elsing, Karsten Faulhaber, Nicholas Kessler and Jörg Ritter as well as counsels Franziska Gräfin Grote and Sebastian Meul, our German International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution team collaborates with our lawyers in the U.S., Europe and Asia to advise on complex and high-profile litigation and arbitration proceedings worldwide. In October 2019, our team also welcomed leading European arbitration practitioner Michael Bühler, who joined our Paris office with his team. He is admitted to the bar in Germany, the U.S. (New York) and France.
JUVE is a publishing house that reports on business law firms in Germany and Austria as well as tax advisors. The JUVE Awards 2020 were awarded in a total of 18 categories to 15 law firms and three in-house teams. The event, which was broadcast online for the first time, was led by well-known former FIFA referee and television commentator Urs Meier.
