Founded in 1974, Swords to Plowshares is a community-based nonprofit that provides counseling and case management, employment and training, housing and legal assistance to thousands of veterans in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As part of Swords to Plowshares' Veterans Pro Bono Program, Orrick lawyers manage numerous full-scope cases and staff several legal clinics for Bay Area veterans each year. In addition, we have had a continuous presence on the organization’s pro bono advisory board, including service from Orrick lawyers (and veterans themselves) Jason Flaherty and Bob Feyer.

In recognizing the firm as its Pro Bono Partner of the Year, Swords to Plowshares said: “Orrick's pro bono work has had a huge impact on the lives of veterans in need... We are grateful to have Orrick on our side.”

In addition to Jason and Bob, our team of volunteers over the past year on Swords to Plowshares projects has included Peter Cohn, Nancy Chen, Mark Weitzel, Lillian Mao, Christine McCarthy and Jesse Cheng.
