Orrick advised Microsoft’s venture fund M12 on their corporate venture capital investment in German AI startup Twenty Billion Neurons (TwentyBN). M12 is the lead investor in the $10 million Series A financing round that also included Coparion, Creative Edge, and MFV Partners.

Based in Berlin and Toronto, TwentyBN is an AI brain company with the mission of instilling common sense into computers through video understanding and of turning inanimate devices into human eyes that can understand the world around them, assist humans, and ensure a safe and healthy lifestyle. TwentyBN's Series A financing round enables the leading provider of real-time, interactive computer vision and artificial intelligence solutions to further scale its business.

M12 (formerly Microsoft Ventures) is the corporate venture arm for Microsoft and invests in enterprise software companies in the Series A through C funding stage. As part of its value-add to portfolio companies, M12 offers unique access to strategic go-to-market resources and relationships globally.

Microsoft was advised by an Orrick team led by technology partners Jörg Ritter (Munich) and Greg Heibel (Silicon Valley). They were supported by partner Till Steinvorth (antitrust, Düsseldorf) and counsel Sebastian Meul (M&A and private equity, Munich).
