Lynne Hermle Named to Recorder Women Leaders in Tech Law List

November.13.2018

Partner Lynne Hermle was named for the second consecutive year to The Recorder’s Women Leaders in Tech Law, which recognized her major wins this summer on behalf of Microsoft and Twitter in class action gender discrimination litigation closely watched around the country.

In those cases, separate judges in Seattle and San Francisco rejected efforts to certify class actions against Microsoft and Twitter, neutralizing what had been considered bellwether tests of gender bias issues in the tech industry. Lynne led the Orrick teams arguing on behalf of the two companies.

As part of a Q&A feature for the publication, Lynne discussed the many challenges and opportunities working in the tech sector, saying the best part is “working with brilliant innovators, including those who are changing the world.” Lynne covered a range of topics, from how working as a Denny’s waitress in college prepped her for the fast-paced environment of a trial lawyer to the best career advice she’s ever received. (“Don’t take business disputes personally. They’re not about you.”)

The recognition is the latest in a string of honors for Lynne, including being named to the Daily Journal’s annual list of top 100 lawyers in California, a Law360 MVP and an American Lawyer Litigator of the Week for her work on the Microsoft and Twitter cases.
