Chambers Global 2018 Recognizes Orrick Teams Worldwide

The 2018 edition of the peer directory Chambers Global recognizes Orrick for leadership across 42 practice areas in markets around the world. These include the practices of greatest importance to clients in the three sectors on which we focus: tech, energy & infrastructure, and finance. Additionally, Orrick lawyers received 92 individual rankings in the 2018 guide.

Highlights

Our firm was recognized for our work in the tech sector. In corporate and other transactional work, we earned 12 practice rankings and 17 individual rankings in 10 markets across Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Our Intellectual Property team was recognized with a global-wide ranking, as well as five regional rankings in the Asia-Pacific region, China, Japan, Taiwan, and the United States. Chambers describes our IP team as “a go-to firm for household names in the electronics and software spaces,” while a client praised the team’s international reach, stating that it is "strong in cross-border capabilities." In addition, our IP lawyers earned eight individual rankings.

Our Energy & Infrastructure team earned 11 practice rankings, including Band 1 rankings in the United States for PPP and Renewable Energy projects. The guide notes that our team “offers clients a broad projects practice with particular strengths in PPP, renewables and conventional power developments.” Our team’s international capabilities were also recognized with practice rankings in Africa, France, Italy, Japan, and the UK, and 31 individual rankings.

In finance, we earned six practice rankings in Banking & Finance, Structured Finance, and Capital Markets, both Debt and Securitization. Members of our teams in France, Italy and the United States received 16 individual rankings.

Our teams and individuals were recognized across a range of litigation and regulatory disciplines, including labor and employment, FCPA, e-discovery, and intellectual property. Our International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution team earned six practice rankings for their work Europe-wide as well as in Africa, France and Japan. This includes a Band 1 ranking for our Litigation team in France, which Chambers describes as “a highly esteemed practice with an active presence in cross-border matters concerning other European jurisdictions” while also citing the team’s experience in Africa. Our litigators earned 21 individual rankings.
