Orrick Advises Gimv on Acquisition of Majority Stake in Köberl Group

Orrick advised European investment company Gimv on the acquisition of a majority stake in Munich-based Köberl Group, including Fink Gebäudetechnik and Gema Gebäudemanagement.

The aim of the partnership is to sustainably further the group’s long-term growth together with the group’s managing owners, who will remain in their current roles. The focus will be on strengthening in-house services, expanding regionally and driving digitalization efforts. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including approval by the competition authority.

Listed on Euronext Brussels, Gimv is a European investment company with almost 40 years of experience in private equity. The company currently has a portfolio of approximately €1.1 billion of investments in more than 50 portfolio companies, with a combined total of 14,000 employees and turnover of €2.75 billion.

Köberl Group is one of the leading full-service providers of facility management and technical building services in the southern German market. The group consists of Fink Gebäudetechnik, Gema Gebäudemanagement and SGM Süddeutsche Gebäudemanagement, which together employ a staff of more than 350 and generate a total output of over €60 million.

Gimv was advised by a Germany-based Orrick team led by Munich-based M&A and private equity partner Fabian von Samson-Himmelstjerna who has previously advised Gimv on various transactions, including the acquisitions of the Medi Markt companies and a majority stake in Laser 2000.
