Orrick Grows International Trade Team in Washington, D.C.

December.03.2019

Orrick announced today that international trade and investment authority Jeanine McGuinness has joined the firm as a partner in Washington, D.C. She joins Orrick from Davis Polk & Wardwell.

“Intensification of the challenges presented by national security regulation of international trade and investment has gone from gradual to acute in recent years. We are delighted to add a top talent like Jeanine to our International Trade and Compliance team as clients need ever more sophisticated, authoritative support in this area,” said Harry Clark, head of Orrick’s International Trade & Compliance Group.

Jeanine advises clients in the technology, financial, energy & natural resources and other sectors on requirements such as Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) scrutiny of foreign investment, U.S. economic sanctions, anti-money laundering laws and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She is ranked highly by Chambers Global for her CFIUS, export control and economic sanctions expertise. Jeanine is also a frequent speaker and writer on U.S. sanctions and anti-money laundering issues and developments.

“Orrick’s global platform coupled with its focus on the technology, energy and infrastructure and finance sectors make it an ideal place for my practice. I’m excited to work alongside Harry and Clark McFadden to grow Orrick’s CFIUS and sanctions practice and to collaborate with the firm’s M&A, Tech and E&I teams in supporting their clients’ compliance and regulatory needs on transactions,” said Jeanine.

Jeanine’s arrival continues a series of lateral additions to Orrick’s global platform. Last month, the firm welcomed a top-tier international arbitration team in Paris – Michael Bühler and Nicole Dolenz, formerly with Jones Day, as well as veteran white-collar defense lawyer Jeff Coopersmith in Seattle from Davis Wright Tremaine and leading tech and oil and gas corporate advisor Ed Lukins in London from Cooley.
