Orrick Webinar: More to Say on Equal Pay: 2018 Global Update

Webinar | February.22.2018

Webinar - Recording Available

Pay equity continues to be an issue of focus across the globe. While many jurisdictions currently have some form of gender-based pay equity requirements, new legislation is imposing greater requirements on multinationals. Moreover, the wave of new litigation that has begun in the U.S. on pay equity may spread to other jurisdictions.

For example, effective January 6, 2018, employees in Germany may seek information on their peers' salary under the Pay Transparency Act if certain conditions are met. In the UK, for companies with more than 250 employees, the first deadline for publishing gender and bonus pay gap information is quickly approaching (April 2018). Other countries already have some form of pay equity disclosure requirements in place, while others have proposed legislation, which could come into effect within this year.

Orrick's Equal Pay Team continues to be at the forefront of advising Boards of Directors and senior management and defending leading companies as they navigate the new world of pay equity both domestically and internationally.

In this 60 minute webinar, Orrick's Equal Pay Team will address the current pay equity landscape, including the following:

  • U.S. brief overview of the status of pay equity laws, litigation and shareholder proposals on pay equity;
  • Update on the German Pay Transparency Act;
  • Key considerations as you finalize your pay gap report in the UK and an analysis of the reports filed to date;
  • Landscape of pay equity or pay ratio collection and reporting rules around the globe, including Australia, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa and Sweden.
