A recognized champion for diversity with a deep understanding of the client perspective, Duane engages in advancing the inclusion and diversity conversation with clients, our community, and within Orrick.
Duane’s passion for making inclusiveness actionable in the legal profession guides his remit of increasing diversity among our team and in our client relationships.
Orrick is a founding firm of Move the Needle (MTN) Fund, a 5-year, $5 million collaboration between the Diversity Lab, 25+ corporate legal departments and five law firms. MTN aims to develop innovative solutions to advance diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Working alongside our MTN leadership team, Duane engages directly with Orrick’s clients to enhance the diversity of client teams and client relationship leadership.
A seasoned lawyer and business leader, Duane has long been a a champion for diversity and inclusion. He joined Orrick from JP Morgan, where he served as Managing Director and Senior Finance & Business Manager of the Latin American Private Bank. He also served for nearly two decades in senior roles at Morgan Stanley, including COO of International Wealth Management, and founded and chaired the bank’s legal diversity program. He began his career as a lawyer with Simpson Thacher and Shearman & Sterling.
Duane is a sought-after speaker on diversity and inclusion and career development. He has a particular focus on cognitive bias, in-group favoritism, leniency bias, and developing individual strategies to succeed in one’s career.
