Alex is a project finance and development associate in the Energy & Infrastructure team at Orrick's Singapore office.

Alex advises sponsors and financiers (including ECAs) on the development and finance of energy and infrastructure projects. He has experience with a range of structures including project financing, portfolio financing, export and agency financing, and corporate financing. His experience includes the financing of greenfield conventional power, cross-border hydropower, offshore and onshore wind, and solar PV IPPs across Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America.

He also has experience in capital markets (DCM, structured products, and derivatives) transactions.

Prior to joining Orrick, Alex practiced for over 4 years at a magic circle law firm's Tokyo and Singapore offices. Alex also spent 10 months as in-house counsel at a Japanese corporate.

    • ADB, JBIC, NEXI and commercial lenders on the development and US$642 million project financing of a 718MW (net) gas-fired thermal power generation project in Bangladesh sponsored by JERA Co., Inc. and Reliance Power Limited.
    • The lenders on the development and financing of a 584MW combined cycle power plant at Meghnaghat, Bangladesh.
    • JBIC and commercial lenders on the US$433 million financing of 2 combined cycle power plants in Salamanca and San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
    • JBIC, KEXIM and the commercial banks in connection with the US$ 2.5 billion 1,200MW Nghi Son 2 BOT power plant in Vietnam, sponsored by Marubeni Corporation and KEPCO.
    • The lenders on the US$2.1 billion financing of the Pak Lay cross-border hydropower project involving Laos and Thailand.
    • JBIC, ADB, international banks and Thai banks on the Nam Ngiep 1 cross-border hydropower project involving Laos and Thailand.
    • The ECA-covered lenders in relation to the Hai Long 2A, 2B and 3 offshore wind farm projects in Taiwan.
    • EKF, local and international lenders on the US$315 million financing for the 150MW Burgos Wind Project in the Philippines.
    • JBIC, NEXI and the commercial lenders on the financing of the Taza wind project in Morocco.
    • EIB and the commercial lenders on the 1.7GW portfolio financing of solar PV projects in Spain, Italy and Portugal.
    • The lenders on the development and financing of a 168MWp solar PV power plant in Ninh Thuan Province, Vietnam.
    • ADB on the 257MW Phu Yen PV solar project in Vietnam, the largest single operating solar plant in Vietnam.
    • ADB on the 200MW DTE PV solar project in Vietnam.
    • The lenders on the US$100 million NEXI overseas untied loan insurance covered facility to a Turkish company for financing renewable energy projects in Kosovo and Georgia, and other investment in digital transformation and the energy transition.
    • JBIC on the €800 million financing for a 5G Open Radio Access Network development in Germany.
    • SACE and SMBC on the US$600 million push financing for a Philippine corporate.
    • JBIC on the US$100 million untied financing to an Indian bank for supporting the development of the agricultural machinery industry in India.
    • The lenders on the €106M JOLCO financing of a Boeing 787-10 aircraft.
