  • Stacy Kray joins the firm as a partner in San Francisco.
  • Stacy brings extensive environmental law experience in M&A, project development and finance, and a wide range of other corporate finance transactions, at a moment when government incentives on green energy, climate change and ESG are changing the regulatory landscape.
  • She joins Orrick from Skadden.
  • Stacy follows the arrival of renewables advisor Karthik Kumar who joined Orrick’s Singapore office in September. She is the 8th partner addition this year to the firm’s E&I practice which ranked #2 for renewables globally for the first half of 2022 by Inframation and No. 2 for Energy Tech by PitchBook.

“With new governmental incentives like the Inflation Reduction Act, expanding ESG initiatives and increasing regulatory oversight, our clients are looking at opportunities to innovate and manage risk. Stacy brings a top-quality skillset, and we are thrilled to add her to the team,” said Dahl Thompson, leader of Orrick’s global Energy & Infrastructure practice.

Stacy has served as lead environmental counsel on hundreds of transactions, as well as on litigation and regulatory matters. She also advises public companies on climate change, ESG compliance, sustainability reporting, sustainability programs and disclosures and will work closely with Orrick’s Public Companies and ESG teams, and its ESG analytics offering.

“As the convergence of energy and tech accelerates in response to the climate imperative and clients across sectors wrestle with ESG uncertainty, we’re finding a need for Stacy’s skill set with an increasingly wide range of our client work,” said Matthew Gemello, global leader of Orrick’s Corporate practice.

“The depth and breadth of Orrick’s energy transition, energy tech and ESG platforms is unparalleled. I’m incredibly excited to collaborate with their talented and innovative team,” said Stacy.

Orrick is Chambers ranked for energy and projects work in the United States (where we rank Band 1 nationwide in Renewables, Power and PPP/ Infrastructure).
