Lorraine McGowen Named to Savoy Magazine's Most Influential Black Lawyers List for the Third Time

Congratulations to Lorraine McGowen on yet again being named one of the Most Influential Black Lawyers by Savoy Magazine. This list honors African-American men and women at leading national law firms and corporate and general counsel from Fortune 1000 companies for legal leadership, expertise and community service. Lorraine was previously named to the list in 2018 and 2015.

For over 30 years, Lorraine has advised leading financial institutions, syndicated lender groups, creditor committees and other parties seeking to maximize their recovery or reduce their exposure in restructuring matters. Most recently, she represented the bondholder committee on the restructuring of $675 million of government debt held by the Republic of Suriname and represented a leading automotive company on the temporary cessation and wind-up of production of its luxury yacht business with a third-party yacht builder.

Lorraine is a member of Orrick’s Management Committee, a longtime leader of Orrick's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiatives and co-leads Orrick’s Automotive Technology & Mobility Group. She is a strong advocate for diversity at Orrick and in the legal profession generally. She is the recipient of the National Bar Association’s Outstanding Woman at a Majority firm, NYC Bar Association's Diversity Champion Award and Legal Outreach's Pipeline to Diversity Champion Award. Lorraine recently completed two terms of service on the firm's Board of Directors and previously chaired Orrick's Restructuring Group.

She is a Vice President and Board Member of the New York City Bar Association and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession, the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, the Advisory Committees for Legal Outreach, and the Vance Center for International Justice of the NYCBA.
