Orrick advised NTT DOCOMO, INC., Japan’s largest mobile phone operator, in its $280 million investment in Magic Leap, Inc., a U.S.-based spatial computing company, as part of a strategic partnership between the two companies.
The partnership between Magic Leap and NTT DOCOMO will combine two powerful technologies – NTT DOCOMO’s planned 5G infrastructure and Magic Leap’s spatial computing – to deliver the next computing platform to NTT DOCOMO customers. NTT DOCOMO will become the exclusive telecommunications partner of Magic Leap in Japan and the companies will work together to customize Magic Leap’s software operating system for the Japanese market.
