The Recorder Names Orrick California Litigation and Employment Departments of the Year

February.29.2016

Orrick has been named California Litigation Department of the Year and California Labor & Employment Department of the Year by ALM’s The Recorder. This is Orrick's third consecutive win in the employment category and its second time selected in the litigation category.

“We are truly honored by this recognition,” said Walt Brown, Orrick's Senior Partner for Litigation. “These accolades could not have been attained without our clients entrusting us with their most important engagements.”

The Recorder selected Orrick for “delivering exceptional results on its clients' most critical and challenging matters.” Orrick litigated dozens of cases of national and international significance over the past year securing a string of victories. Among the firm’s most significant results were wins on behalf of Kleiner Perkins in a gender discrimination case brought by former partner Ellen Pao, DISH Network in its copyright fight with the four major U.S. broadcast networks, MobileIron in a patent infringement suit against rival Good Technology, and Broadcom in a Dodd-Frank retaliation claim brought by a former employee.

In selecting its winners, the Recorder considered the degree of difficulty, the dollar value and the importance of each matter to the client, as well as the depth and breadth of the firm’s practice and the use of strategic approaches that proved successful.

Within the in-house category, Orrick congratulates Kleiner Perkins General Counsel Paul Vronsky on his selection as the Recorder's In-House Impact Award winner.
