Logan J. Herlinger Dir of Client File Mgmt

Logan has experience managing a wide-variety of complex discovery matters including multi-district antitrust litigation, ;class actions, intellectual property litigation, contract disputes, product liability actions, and internal and regulatory investigations. He assists with all aspects of the discovery process, including: coordinating the preservation, collection, review and production of information; conducting IT and custodian interviews; propounding and responding to written discovery; participating in meet and confer negotiations; and assisting in discovery motions practice.

A large part of Logan's practice focuses on information governance. He works directly with companies to develop information governance and litigation readiness plans that are tailored to the specific needs of each company. This work includes drafting records retention policies and schedules, consulting on the disposition of legacy information (paper and electronic), counseling on email and new media management, and drafting preservation policies and tracking systems. He has been engaged in these capacities by Fortune 100 companies, banks, insurance companies, accounting firms, broker-dealers, consulting firms, healthcare companies, international retailers, technology companies, communication companies, aerospace companies, energy producers, utilities, and non-profits.

Matt Janosko Career Associate

Matt focuses his practice on mid-sized sponsor formation, with experience in  private equity, real estate, debt and hedge funds, but a focus in venture capital and similar alternative investment funds. Matt works closely with his sponsor side clients to form, structure and negotiate the foundational terms of their funds. 

On the investor side, Matt has worked with a number of institutional investors providing guidance on the terms and structuring of investment opportunities in their own private fund investments, including drafting of documents and negotiating with other fund counsel. 

Jeffrey McKenna Senior eDiscovery and Privacy Attorney

Recent representative engagements include advising a large multinational client on compliance with data privacy laws in eight countries throughout the EU and Asia during multi-district litigation, assisting a large foreign corporation balance its disclosure obligations resulting from a federal consent decree with its obligations under the GDPR and various EU Member State employee privacy laws, assisting several multinationals efficiently navigate the complexities raised by the GDPR and CCPA, and successfully advocating in state court proceedings against burdensome discovery-on-discovery sought from his client while simultaneously prevailing on his own client’s request for such discovery from the opposing party. His litigation experience includes all aspects of civil litigation in state and federal courts, including all phases of discovery, post-trial motions and appeals.

Jeffrey has spoken extensively on the issues of privacy, cybersecurity, and discovery. Publications include articles in the New York Law Journal, LegalTech News, the National Law Journal and co-authoring The Sedona Conference Principles on Privacy and Information Security for Lawyers, Law Firms, and Other Legal Service Providers.  Jeffrey is also an active participant in various initiatives by Lawyers for Civil Justice, including efforts currently underway to enhance protections for cybersecurity and personal information during legal proceedings, particularly during the discovery process.

Prior to joining Orrick, Jeffrey was a senior associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP. His practice focused on complex commercial disputes, class action defense, and related eDiscovery and data privacy issues.

The Discovery Analytics and Review Services group prioritizes using technology and project management discipline to assist firm attorneys with litigation and transactional tasks, particularly tasks that involve large volumes of data and documents.

This work includes using early case assessment technology to analyze, categorize and cull data. Matthew also manages teams of skilled professionals performing document review, redaction, analysis, production and drafting privilege logs. He assists the litigation team to prepare for trial, including drafting deposition summaries, factual memoranda and exhibit charts. Matthew also works with practice office attorneys on transactional tasks, including contract review and due diligence.

Daryl’s team designs processes, workflows, templates and document automation used by dedicated project managers to deliver project plans and enable data driven budgeting and decision-making. As an early adopter of artificial intelligence and machine learning, Daryl’s team uses technology to augment due diligence and drafting tasks, TAR and continuous active learning for litigation projects, and advanced tools for concept and sentiment analysis.
