  • Anisha Dasgupta, the former General Counsel of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, joins Orrick as a partner in its Supreme Court & Appellate and Antitrust Litigation practices. She is based in New York.
  • Having argued more than 50 federal and state appeals, Anisha brings a distinguished record in antitrust appellate litigation and other regulatory matters, as well as deep experience in legal issues involving consumer litigation, privacy and technology. She brings extensive knowledge of the life sciences, pharmaceutical, healthcare and technology sectors.
  • As the unanimously Commission-appointed chief legal officer of the FTC (a bi-partisan commission), Anisha led the agency’s 55-person Office of General Counsel, oversaw the agency’s appellate litigation, and counseled agency leaders on both sides of the aisle. Anisha and her teams successfully litigated several merger challenges and defended significant regulatory decisions and enforcement actions.
  • Anisha’s career of public service has also included serving as Deputy Solicitor General at the Office of the New York State Attorney General and as an appellate attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
  • Anisha joins a Supreme Court & Appellate practice at Orrick that has recently secured multi-billion-dollar wins in the pharmaceutical, technology and liquefied natural gas industries, and was named to the National Law Journal’s Appellate Hot List for the 12th time in 2024.
  • Her hire follows that of Eric Hochstadt, who joined the firm as the head of Antitrust Litigation in February.

“It is a true honor to welcome Anisha to our team. She has a distinguished record of public service over nearly two decades, litigating some of the most critical commercial issues on behalf of the government, crafting creative appellate strategies and leading large teams on complex matters. She has developed a flawless reputation for both the quality of her advice and her integrity, working with commissioners on both sides of the aisle,” said Josh Rosenkranz, head of Orrick’s Supreme Court & Appellate practice. “She will be a tremendous asset to our clients as they navigate a world of increasingly complex government scrutiny.”

“We face a transformational moment in so many sectors today and I cannot think of a more exciting platform on which to embark on this next stage in my career, helping Orrick’s clients navigate their thorniest battles and at the same time, see around corners,” Anisha said. “I am honored to do this alongside an Orrick team that is at the top of our profession.”

“There’s no clearer example of regulation lagging innovation than antitrust enforcement. Anisha brings federal and state regulatory perspectives that will be valuable to our clients for years to come, and she is exactly the kind of top talent around which Amy Ray and I are building our Antitrust team,” added Eric.
