Law360 cited our “representation of more than 2,700 tech companies, ranging from early-stage startups to tech giants like Microsoft Corp. and Twitter,” in a profile naming our team a 2018 Technology Group of the Year.
“Orrick's successes on behalf of tech giants … and the firm's ability to bring its best lawyers to help companies even at early stages of development, are among the reasons why startups are drawn to the firm,” partner John Bautista told Law360. Don Keller, partner and leader of the firm’s Technology Sector practices, talked about the full range of services the firm provides to tech companies with “the best set of destination practices of any firm in the world," including our Employment, Supreme Court and Appellate, White Collar, Intellectual Property and Public Policy practices, in addition to our Technology Companies Group. The profile cites our major litigation and deal successes for the tech sector over the past year, including high-profile wins for Microsoft and Twitter in gender bias cases and our recent deal work for Beijing-based e-retailer JD.com on several transactions to bolster its e-commerce logistics network
Orrick’s online technology solutions were also highlighted, both those that Orrick has developed internally and with partners to give early-stage companies "faster, better and cheaper legal services," as John Bautista described them to Law360. This includes our recent collaboration with Long-Term Stock Exchange on IPO Ready, a first-of-a-kind tool for tech founders to evaluate whether their company is ready to go public, and cap table software Captable.io, which enables startups to manage their stock and option grants without charge.
This is the third time Orrick has been recognized for Technology Group of the Year. In addition to Technology, Law360 recognized our Appellate, Project Finance and Employment practices as Practice Groups of the Year in 2018.
