Daily Journal Names Two Orrick Women to Top 100 List

Orrick congratulates employment law partner Lynne Hermle and intellectual property partner Annette Hurst on their selection to the Daily Journal’s 2015 Top 100 list. 

Appearing on the list for the second time, Daily Journal highlights Lynne’s recent representation of VC firm Kleiner Perkins in its high-stakes gender discrimination case brought by former junior partner Ellen Pao that placed Lynne at the “epicenter of a media maelstrom” and “brought a torrent of attention” to Silicon Valley, as well as the tech sector globally. Daily Journal noted that “thanks to Hermle's skillful work in the courtroom, she won a sweeping jury victory for Kleiner Perkins, and every claim made by Pao was ultimately rejected by the jury.” The feature also noted Lynne’s current engagements high-profile employment matters for Twitter and Broadcom.

Also named to the Daily Journal Top 100 list for the second time, Annette Hurst was touted for helping DISH Network defeat claims by the major networks – FOX, NBC, ABC and CBS – that its innovative Hopper DVR infringed their copyrights. The publication pointed out that “the [DISH] ruling came just months after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled TV-streaming start-up Aereo Inc. was in violation of copyright laws for offering a similar service." Daily Journal also highlighted Annette’s current matters for Denso Corp in a lawsuit brought by the Alliance of Artists and Recording Companies and her work on behalf of Oracle in its upcoming copyright retrial against Google.
