Los Angeles Senior intellectual property associate Benjamin Hofileña is representing a 27 year old woman who is seeking guardianship over her eight year old sister whose mother recently passed away from breast cancer. The older sister and mother agreed that upon the mother’s death, the older sister would take over responsibility for her younger sister. The client is a recent new mother, with a four month old child and is a stay at home mother. She therefore offers her younger sister strong emotional support as she copes with the tragic passing of her mother.
