Orrick is proud to partner with Inspiratia at the Offshore & Floating Wind Virtual Summit on 12 May 2021.

Offshore wind has grown up fast becoming the cornerstone of many countries’ future energy plans. The established markets in Europe are now doubling down with accelerated targets for deployment over the coming decade. Meanwhile, countries with less mature offshore wind sectors, such as the US and several Asian jurisdictions, are now beginning to build up momentum and will see huge deployment over the next few years. Floating wind is finally coming of age and will be a viable option for all of these markets as project development moves beyond the bounds of shallow water continental shelves.

Orrick’s global co-head of renewables Evan Stergoulis will be leading the ‘Frontiers and Beyond’ panel discussion covering the international expansion of the industry and the challenges that will arise in further spread across the globe. Evan will be joined by Daniel Mallo, Head of Natural Resources & Infrastructure, Asia Pacific at Société Generale, Tom Whittle, Taiwan Country Manager at OWC and other industry experts.

Energy & Infrastructure partner Adam Smith will be moderating the panel ‘How the next phase of offshore wind will be financed’, discussing the impacts of the evolving nature of the industry, the characteristics of projects and the dwindling revenues from tariffs on the future of the European financing market and wider. Adam will be joined by Alberto Abascal, Head of Offshore Wind at NatWest, Guillaume Leprieur, Director - Power and Renewables EMEA at MUFG, Joost Bergsma, Managing Partner/CEO at Glennmont, Alexander Oppenhaeuser, Head of Infrastructure & Export Finance/Managing Director at Deka Bank and Serene Tan, Leading Advisor, Structured Finance at Equinor.
