Orrick's Total Access Japan Event Series provides entrepreneurs business, tactical, and legal education through complimentary panels and seminars and networking events. The next event will take place on Wednesday, May 30 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

As biotech companies race toward the opportunities in Japan, no life sciences sector has received more attention, government support, and regulatory reform than the important field of regenerative medicine. The Japanese government wants to be the regenerative medicine center of the world. To do that, the Japanese government is keen to entice companies to come to Japan and for Japan’s own pharmaceutical companies to develop and license in the best medicines. The “regen” boom in Japan is based on a series of reforms and new laws for pharmaceuticals, but especially the landmark Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act (PMD Act) and the Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine. The legislation focuses on everything from basic research to clinical research/trials, approval reviews, safety measures, insurance coverage, improvement of infrastructure and the environment for corporate activities, and global expansion.

During this session, speakers will discuss why the Japan regenerative market is attractive, the up-and-coming companies active in market, and the factors the speakers consider when investing in or acquiring a regenerative company.
