Katie Jones focuses on advising investment funds, fund sponsors, real estate advisors, developers, public and private pension funds and institutional lenders in real property acquisitions and dispositions, secured financing, hospitality, construction and development, joint ventures and other corporate real estate activities.

Katie has developed particular experience in the hospitality sector and is familiar with drafting and negotiating documentation unique to the hotel industry, including construction contracts, hotel management and franchise agreements, in addition to more standard loan documentation, joint venture and purchase and sale agreements.

    • Advised an international opportunity fund on the US$115 million refinancing of The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C. Also advised on the negotiation of a construction contract and architect agreement for renovations at the hotel.
    • Advised a real estate debt fund on the US$48 million mortgage and mezzanine financing of the Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palm, South Carolina.
    • Advised an international opportunity fund on the acquisition and US$40 million financing of the Hilton Seattle in Washington, including negotiation of a hotel management agreement and franchise agreement.
    • Advised an international opportunity fund on the acquisition and US$44 million financing of the Holiday Inn Boston-Brookline in Massachusetts.
    • Advised an international opportunity fund on the US$212 million refinancing of The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park and negotiation of a construction contract and architect agreement for renovations at the hotel.
    • Advised an international opportunity fund on the US$128 million sale of The St. Regis Washington, D.C.
    • Advised an international opportunity fund on the US$80 million financing of the Four Seasons Miami and negotiation of construction contracts for renovations at the hotel.
    • Advised a real estate debt fund on the acquisition of US$40 million of junior notes in a US$375 million mortgage loan secured by the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
    • Advised an international opportunity fund on the US$350 million sale of the Westin San Francisco Market Street hotel in San Francisco, California to LaSalle Hotel Properties, which was one of the largest US hotel sales of 2015.
    • Advised one of the world's largest real estate advisers with more than US$43 billion under management on the US$250 million sale of the Ihilani JW Marriott Hotel at Ko’Olina. The transaction involved a financing of the acquisition, a deferred Section 1031 like kind exchange and the re-launch and conversion of the Hotel to a 186-room luxury hotel and 206 residential condominium units.
    • Advised an international opportunity fund on the sale of the Stanford Court Hotel in San Francisco, California. Also advised on the acquisition of the hotel and terminating the existing hotel management agreement and negotiating a new hotel management agreement.
    • Advised a real estate debt fund on the US$21 million mezzanine financing made in conjunction with a US$110 million mortgage loan secured by of a portfolio of office buildings in California and Colorado.
    • Advised a real estate debt fund on the US$44 million mortgage financing of a 150,000 square foot lifestyle commercial retail center in Tarzana, California, anchored by Whole Foods and T.J. Maxx.
    • Advised an international opportunity fund on the US$54 million mortgage financing of a portfolio of office buildings in Boston, Massachusetts.
