Dermot is a member of Orrick's Technology Companies Group and advises on financings of early to late stage high-growth technology companies and those who invest in them, whether they be venture capital funds, corporate or individual investors.

Dermot is passionate about disruptive technologies and is a member of Orrick's global cross-practice blockchain team. Dermot's blockchain experience includes advising on token sales and the regulation of cryptocurrencies.

Prior to joining Orrick, Dermot's private equity and venture capital experience included time on secondment in the global M&A team of one of the world's largest consumer sector companies and separately to a major international law firm's new Johannesburg office.

    • Acted for Atomico in relation to the €11 million Series A financing of OnTruck, the Spanish “trucking on demand”, freight delivery and logistics business.
    • Acted for Qamine (trading as Codacy), the provider of an automated code review tool, on its €5.5 million Series A financing led by EQT Ventures.
    • Acted for Kennet Capital Partners and Eight Roads Ventures on their $25 million investment into Rimilia, the SaaS-based intelligent automation company serving finance functions of global enterprises.
    • Acted for the developer of central bank issued digital fiat currency in respect of its $4 million Bridge Note financing.
    • Acted for a London based on-demand fuel delivery company in respect of its £1.5 million Series Seed round investment.
    • Acted for Atomico in relation to the $8.5 million Series A financing of Bossa Studios, the independent mobile games developer and publisher.
    • Acted for Atomico in relation to the £18.5 million Series B financing of Habito, the online mortgage broker.
    • Acted for a Serbian based FinTech start-up in respect of its $1.6 million Series Seed investment.
    • Acted for a London and Netherlands based AI focused start-up in respect of its £1.5 million Series Seed investment.
    • Acted for a Swiss investment vehicle on its €7 million investment into a UK-based developer of operating system for multi blockchain networks.
    • Acted for a London based API platform provider focused on loyalty cards in respect of its £1 million advanced subscription financing.
    • Acted for Columbia Lake Partners in respect of its £2.5 million venture debt financing of QuanTemplate, the insurance data integration and analytics company.
    • Acted for Artesian, the developer of cloud-based customer alignment software, on its £3.5 million venture debt financing from Columbia Lake Partners.
    • Acted for Omidyar Network in relation to the $20 million funding of Digital House, a group of coding schools that provide digital skills to Latin America’s next generation. The round was led by The Rise Fund, TPG Growth’s social impact fund.
