Tom Garvey is a Senior Associate in the Financial Services Litigation Group in Orrick's New York Office.
Tom provides valuable complex financial litigation and class action experience, including for clients like Goldman Sachs, UBS O’Connor, Jefferies, and Credit Suisse. He has extensive experience at trial and appellate arguments across a range of jurisdictions, including trials before federal district and bankruptcy courts, the International Trade Commission, and the commercial court of London, as well as appellate arguments before the 1st Department of New York. Tom has represented corporations as both plaintiffs and defendants at all stages of litigation, including pre-suit demands and investigations, pleadings, motions to dismiss, fact and expert discovery and depositions, summary judgment, trial preparation and pre-trial briefing, trial, post-trial and appellate briefing. Tom has authored numerous briefs in federal and state proceedings addressing contract disputes, class actions, civil procedure, constitutional and administrative law, and evidentiary issues.
Prior to joining Orrick, he practiced at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and clerked for the Honorable Kevin C. Newsom in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and for the Honorable James B. Loken in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Tom received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
