Xiang Wang Named ALB's China Top IP Lawyer List

Congratulations to Xiang Wang on being named one of China’s Top 15 IP Lawyers for 2018 by Asian Legal Business. Winners were selected based on client and peer feedback, client engagements and career achievements.

In its coverage, ALB touts Xiang for having the “most unique and multi-disciplinary experience” among this year’s winners “as one of the few IP lawyers who has a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering, a Chinese certificate of law and admission to practice law in New York, Indiana and before the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Over the past year, Xiang and his San Francisco partner Robert Shwarts, led a cross-office team, achieved a complete victory in a trade secret misappropriation case before the U.S. ITC on behalf of Chinese state-owned enterprise Advanced Technology & Materials and several of its related companies as respondents against Japanese-US consortium Hitachi Metal and Metglas. This was a first-of-its-kind victory for Chinese respondents in a Section 337 trade secrets case.

Xiang is consistently recognized for his IP work by Chambers Asia, Legal 500 Asia-Pacific, Managing IP and IAM Patent 1000. He was also named “Asia IP Lawyer of the Year” in 2017 by Asian Lawyer. Xiang leads Orrick’s China IP practice, serves as co-chair of the firm’s Global Advisory Board and is a Senior Partner for Asia.
