Timo is passionate about contributing his deep practical know-how and broad market experience to combine legal excellence and economic understanding for solutions that work best for his clients.

Timo heads our Capital Markets and Banking & Finance (incl. Regulatory) practice in Germany and has been advising clients on respective law matters for more than 15 years.

He inter alia advises in the fields of regulatory & asset management (incl. AIFs) and restructuring, corporate law and derivative/carbon trading and is member in a creditors committee.

Timo helps his clients, among them banks, corporates, listed companies, and asset managers in capital markets and finance transactions, M&A, squeeze outs, IPOs/ICOs as well as with regard to compliance. He also has special market experience regarding (renewable) energy, banking (stock exchange), insurance, and fund structuring as well as technology.


  • Timo is a certified lawyer (Fachanwalt) for banking and capital markets law and worked for two other reputable international law firms before joining Orrick in 2012.

    After his bank apprenticeship, Timo studied law in Bonn and then worked for Deutsche Börse AG in Frankfurt in the areas management board, securities admission, takeover commission and legislative procedures.

    In addition, Timo is visiting lecturer at Düsseldorf University and is a regular presenter during conferences and seminars. He is editor of a prospectus law commentary and author of several publications on corporate and capital markets law.

  • Timo has accompanied the issue of non-equity and equity instruments of various issuers and is involved on a regular basis in the advice of both banks and borrowers in finance transactions as well as in regulatory advice. This includes:

    • Advised on an IPO of a fintech company in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange

    • Lender’s counsel of ING in refinancing a UK based wind farm held by a regulated German AIF

    • Advised on drafting of Prospectus for capital increase and regulated market listing of Ringmetall AG

    • Advised Group Deutsche Börse on a corporate venture capital investment in a financing round of U.S. trading platform Trumid as well as on a joint venture

    • Advised in a bank admission proceeding with BaFin / Bundesbank for a well-known family office asset manager

    • Advised on promissory loan (Schuldscheindarlehen) of regulated market listed issuer (Real Estate)

    • Advised UK Registrar Capita on the merger of TUI AG with TUI Travel PLC

    • Advised various issuers and shareholders in capital markets compliance including BaFin fine proceedings (e.g. Ad-hoc, notifications)
