  • Hagit Muriel Elul joins our international arbitration practice in New York from Hughes Hubbard, where she was co-leader of the arbitration group.
  • Hagit focuses on international arbitration and cross-border litigation matters for life sciences, energy and infrastructure, and tech clients in fora around the world.
  • She is the 11th partner to join Orrick’s litigation platform since the beginning of 2022 – including 9 litigators focused on life sciences.
  • Her hire follows the announcement last week of Orrick’s combination with Buckley, a leading regulatory, enforcement and litigation firm.

“Hagit is highly regarded first-chair counsel in the international arbitration bar and adds to our U.S.- based bench at a time when more parties in life sciences, energy, infrastructure and tech are turning to arbitration as the preferred cross-border dispute resolution mechanism,” said Charles Adams, Geneva-based head  of our international arbitration practice.

Named a Distinguished Leader by The New York Law Journal in 2021 for securing successful results in bet-the-company disputes for major clients, including a European pharmaceutical company, a Philippines-based gaming client and a Japanese nuclear power operator, Hagit represents largescale life sciences, energy and infrastructure businesses. She is recognized as a leading practitioner by Chambers, Global Arbitration Review, and Legal 500  where clients commend her as “a force to be reckoned with” who “thinks ten steps ahead” and “combines exceptional command of forensic detail, with first-class presentation and cross-examination skills.”  Hagit also serves on the Commission of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, as a Director of the New York International Arbitration Center, and on the Council of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution.

“Orrick, with its strength in global energy and infrastructure and the life sciences talent the firm has recently attracted, presents a very exciting platform on which to grow my practice. I am looking forward to collaborating closely with this global team,” Hagit said.

Global Arbitration Review has ranked Orrick in its top 30 international arbitration practices for the past seven years.
