Orrick's Global Japan Practice is hosting a series of "Orrick Library" seminars to explore legal issues in various fields in Japan as well as the United States, Asia and Europe. The next event will be held on Thursday, February 22 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.

While the active use of AI and IoT in business can be considered as a necessity for a company, the use of big data is fundamental. Due to the ambiguity of the current laws and regulations and the impact of big data on proprietary rights, Japanese authorities have been implementing new regulations, and addressing them have become an urgent issue for companies in Japan.

This seminar will focus on the legal issues and strategies regarding the use of big data and will be presented by Shinsuke Yakura who has direct experience as an advisor in the revision of the Trade Secret Management Guideline and the Japanese Unfair Competition Prevention Act by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. This event will be presented in Japanese with no English interpretation.
