Sebastian is a disputes partner in Orrick's Munich office resolving high-stakes post-M&A, corporate and commercial disputes in the technology and life sciences sectors.
He leads Orrick's Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in Germany and represents clients before German state courts and in ICC, DIS and VIAC arbitrations.

Having studied engineering before turning to law, Sebastian brings a technical understanding to the disputes he handles, from milestone and earn-out conflicts that hinge on R&D and clinical questions to IP-driven disputes and claims over failed technology projects. Combined with his background as an M&A lawyer, this allows him to engage closely with technical experts and to understand both, how transactions are negotiated and where they fail.

Sebastian regularly works in cross-office Orrick teams with colleagues in the U.S. and Europe on high-profile, cross-border matters.
He also advises on managers' liability and insolvency-related disputes and deals with Legal Tech and AI technology developments.
Sebastian frequently shares his knowledge by publishing articles in legal and social media.
  • Sebastian characterizes his work as follows:

"In tech and life sciences disputes, the decisive questions are rarely purely legal. Whether a milestone was reached, a product worked, or an R&D program could be stopped often depends on the science behind it. My engineering studies before law school taught me to approach these questions with genuine curiosity and to engage with technical experts on their terms, so that I can turn complex facts into arguments that persuade courts and tribunals. What matters to my clients is not the brief, but the result: Protecting their deal value and their business. "
