Orrick Advises Waterland and Helgstrand on Partnership with Ludger Beerbaum Stables and Foundation of Global Equestrian Group

Orrick has advised Waterland Private Equity and its Danish portfolio company Helgstrand Dressage on their strategic partnership with Ludger Beerbaum Stables GmbH and the foundation of Global Equestrian Group.

Waterland will be the majority shareholder of the newly formed partnership. In combination, Global Equestrian Group will have more than 150 employees, presence in 4 countries and revenue exceeding EUR 60 million.

Waterland is an independent private equity investment group that supports entrepreneurs in realizing their growth ambitions. Waterland manages more than EUR 8 billion of investor commitments and has offices in Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the UK, France, Ireland, Switzerland and Poland.

Helgstrand Dressage sources, develops and sells the world’s leading dressage horses and has more than 120 employees with revenue exceeding EUR 50 million and activities in Denmark, Germany and the U.S. The company, founded by Danish Olympic Bronze winner Andreas Helgstrand, has sold more than 800 horses since its inception in 2008.

Ludger Beerbaum Stables is an internationally esteemed equestrian show jumping business with sports and trading stables and a stallion station located at the Riesenbeck International Equestrian Center in western Germany. The company has been founded by German four-time Olympic show jumping champion Ludger Beerbaum.

Waterland and Helgstrand have been advised by an Orrick team led by Munich-based M&A and Private Equity partner Christoph Brenner.
