As technology companies develop products and code, more companies are looking to incorporate open source software (OSS) or to publicly release their own software as OSS. Decisions involving OSS impact monetization strategies, risk mitigation, and speed to launch products and can be key to the success of any company.

In this hybrid* event, we will welcome to our Tokyo office Michael Carter, a founder and investor in numerous technology startup companies in both Japan and the U.S., and Daniel Forester, partner in Orrick’s New York office focusing on technology transactions advice. Joseph Perkins, partner in our Silicon Valley Office, will moderate the session. Shinsuke Yakura, Partner in our Tokyo office, will also be present to offer some Japan law perspective. The panel will discuss various aspects of OSS including:
