Alex Talarides is a Partner in the Securities Litigation & Corporate Governance team. His practice focuses on defending companies and their officers and directors, as well as investment banks and underwriters, in securities class actions, shareholder derivative suits, mergers and acquisition litigation, and other shareholder-related disputes, and advising clients on corporate governance and disclosure matters.

Alex is recognized by Chambers and Legal 500 as an "Up and Coming" and "Rising Star" in securities litigation. He has extensive experience representing public and private companies and their D&Os, as well as investment banks and underwriters, in securities and corporate governance-related litigation and other complex commercial litigation. He also regularly advises companies and their boards on corporate governance best practices and fiduciary and disclosure duties, frequently presents and publishes on these topics, and teaches a full-semester course on transactional and shareholder litigation at the University of California Berkeley School of Law.

Alex earned his Juris Doctor degree, with Honors, Order of the Coif, from the University of Chicago Law School, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis.

    • In re Apple Securities & Derivative Litigation. Representing Apple and its executive officers in securities fraud class action and related parallel stockholder derivative litigation against the company's board of directors.
    • In re Card Issuing and Payment Processing Platform Stockholder Litigation.  Representing a Card Issuing and Payment Processing Platform and its board of directors in class and derivative litigation alleging breach of fiduciary duty and related claims. 
    • In re Silicon Valley Bank Securities Litigation.  Representing former CEO of Silicon Valley Bank, Greg Becker, in securities fraud class action. 
    • In re Luminar Technologies Securities Litigation.  Representing Luminar and its executive officers in securities fraud class action.
    • In re Block Securities & Derivative Litigation. Representing Block and its executive officers in securities fraud class action and related parallel stockholder derivative litigation against the company's board of directors.

    • In re Robinhood Markets Securities Litigation. Representing underwriting syndicate led by Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan in securities class action arising out of Robinhood's IPO.
    • In re SelectQuote Securities Litigation. Representing underwriting syndicate led by Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley in securities class action arising out of SelectQuote's IPO.
    • In re Freshworks Securities Litigation. Representing underwriting syndicate led by Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, and BofA in securities class action arising out of Freshwork's IPO.
    • In re Torrid Holdings Securities Litigation. Representing underwriting syndicate led by Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and BofA in securities class action arising out of Torrid's IPO.
    • In re LendingClub Securities & Derivative Litigation. Obtained dismissal of securities fraud class action against LendingClub and its senior officers. The dismissal was affirmed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Also obtained dismissal of stockholder derivative action against LendingClub's board of directors.
    • In re PayPal Holdings Securities & Derivative Litigation. Obtained dismissal of multiple securities fraud class actions against PayPal and its senior officers. Also obtained dismissal of stockholder derivative action against PayPal's board of directors.
    • In re Nordstrom Derivative Litigation. Obtained dismissal of stockholder derivative action against Nordstrom's board of directors.
    • In re Oracle Derivative & Acquisition-Related Litigation. Obtained dismissal of stockholder derivative action against Oracle's board of directors. Also obtain dismissal of actions challenging Oracle's acquisitions of various public companies, including Sun Microsystems, RightNow Technologies, and others.
    • In re Uber Technologies Securities Litigation. Obtained dismissal of securities fraud claims against founder and former CEO of Uber.
    • In re NVIDIA Securities Litigation. Obtained dismissal of securities fraud class action against NVIDIA and its top officers. The dismissal was affirmed in a precedent-setting opinion by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
    • In re Identiv Securities Litigation. Obtained dismissal of securities fraud class action against former CEO and founder of Identiv.
    • In re Chesapeake Energy Securities, Derivative & ERISA Litigation. Obtained dismissal of multiple securities fraud class actions against Chesapeake Energy, its top officers, and board of directors. The dismissals were affirmed in precedent-setting opinions by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Also obtained dismissal of multiple stockholder derivative actions against Chesapeake Energy's board of directors, which were also affirmed in precedent-setting decisions.
    • In re SandRidge Energy ERISA Litigation. Obtained dismissal of class action asserting ERISA "stock drop" claims against SandRidge Energy, its senior officers and board of directors.
    • In re 23andMe Consumer Class Action Litigation. Successfully compelled consumer class action claims brought against 23andMe into arbitration, which led to dismissal of the claims. The trial court's decision was affirmed in a precedent-setting decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
    • In re Xoom Stockholder Litigation. Defeated stockholders' attempt to enjoin PayPal's acquisition of Xoom, as well as the stockholders' subsequent effort to recover attorneys' fees under the corporate benefit doctrine based on supplemental disclosures that mooted certain disclosure claims.
    • In re Rocket Fuel Securities Litigation. Obtained dismissal of securities fraud claims against underwriting syndicate led by Credit Suisse and Citigroup in class action arising out of Rocket Fuel's IPO and secondary offering.
    • In re Electronic Arts Securities Litigation. Obtained dismissal of securities fraud class action against Electronic Arts and its senior officers.
    • In re Deckers Outdoor Securities & Derivative Litigation. Obtained dismissal of multiple securities fraud class actions against Deckers Outdoor and its top officers. Also obtained dismissal of stockholder derivative action against Deckers Outdoors' board of directors,, which was affirmed in a precedent-setting opinion by the California Court of Appeal.
    • In re SemiLEDs Securities Litigation. Obtained dismissal of securities fraud class action against SemiLEDs and its top officers.
