Orrick today announced the latest addition to the firm’s market leading public policy team with the hiring of Victoria Suarez-Palomo, a recognized policy and regulatory advisor in the public and private sector who joins us as senior advisor in the New York office.
Victoria most recently served as vice president of policy and regulatory affairs for Renovate America, where she headed national and state specific efforts to support the sustainable growth of clean energy financing. Victoria previously spent more than a decade as a senior policy and communications advisor in Washington, D.C., serving in key roles in the U.S. Treasury Department during the financial crisis as well as the U.S. Department of Education.
Victoria is a rising star in the policy and regulatory arena, named to Forbes’ “Top 30 under 30” for law and policy in 2012 and to
Latino Leaders Magazine’s “100 Most Influential Hispanics” in 2013 and 2015.
This latest move follows
last month’s hiring of Michelle McGann and Robert Williams, two nationally recognized leaders in state legislative affairs, as senior strategists in our Washington, D.C. office. Orrick’s Public Policy Group is increasingly at the center of the highest profile issues before state legislatures and regulators, such as the legalization of sports betting, fintech, telemedicine, broadband initiatives, fantasy sports, alcohol delivery and energy transmission and storage.

Financial Times awarded Orrick with its Most Innovative Regulatory Work for a Client in 2016 for the group’s efforts legalizing fantasy sports in New York and 19 other states, and in 2017 recognized the group’s work in states across the country enacting legislation criminalizing sextortion.
