Orrick Wins Big at Managing IP Awards Taking Home Several Top Honors in U.S. Copyright Law and China IP

March.26.2014

In recognition of an extraordinary string of wins in today's most important copyright cases, Orrick was named National and West Coast Copyright Firm of the Year by Managing Intellectual Property at its North American awards reception on March 25. The firm also received Managing IP's Impact Case of the Year award for its work in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court copyright case Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley & Sons – and Orrick partner Annette Hurst was named California Litigator of the Year in recognition of her work on Kirtsaeng and her representation of DISH Network in its epic bi-coastal copyright battle with all of the major networks over DISH’s DVR ad-skipping technology. Earlier this month, Orrick was China IP Team of the Year at Managing IP’s Global Awards.

Orrick’s China IP team was recognized for its patent, trademark and copyright work, in particular its representation of Microsoft in a dispute against a patent troll and its representation of TPK Touch Solutions in defense of one of the company’s key Chinese patents before the China Patent Reexamination Board (PRB).

These MIP honors follow litigation accolades from the American Lawyer, the Recorder and Law360 for Orrick’s recent IP and litigation wins.
