Orrick Advises Teachable on Its Acquisition by Hotmart

Orrick has advised New York-based edtech startup Teachable on its acquisition by Brazil- and Netherlands-based Hotmart Technology, a global platform for online courses. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition will enable Teachable, which is expected to remain a stand-alone business, to expand into more international markets. Teachable CEO and founder Ankur Nagpal will stay on as CEO of Teachable following the closing.
 
Orrick has counseled Teachable through a number of financing rounds and provided general corporate advice since incorporation. The Orrick team advising Teachable on its acquisition was led by Peter Fusco and Tal Hacohen, and included Maria Bergenhem, Spencer Cohen, Jamie Kamen, John Narducci, James Larkin, Jason Flaherty, Amy Ray, Michael Wiesner, Katherine Hogan, Diana Gillis and Daniel Yost.
