Orrick Hires Rising Star Private Equity Focused Partner Justin Yi in Santa Monica

September.05.2019

Orrick announced today that private equity M&A partner Justin Yi has joined the firm’s rapidly growing Santa Monica office.

Justin focuses on leveraged buyouts, reorganizations and minority investments for private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, as well as general corporate and securities law matters. He has acted for PE funds such as Diversis Capital, Clearlake Capital Group, Siris Capital, Z Capital Partners and Cerberus Capital Management, as well as Vivendi S.A. and its affiliated companies, Burford, Pinnacle Foods, See Tickets and Open Road Films.

“Justin is a unique talent, highly regarded among his clients, and we are delighted to welcome him to our growing private equity practice,” said Peter Lamb. “As funds and their portfolio companies increasingly demand domain expertise and efficient execution from their advisors, our growing team will continue to deliver a unique value proposition to clients. We are confident that the hands-on partner-level attention and expertise that a practitioner like Justin will bring to deals will further differentiate us from the traditional legal advisors in the PE market.”

“It’s an exciting time to join Orrick’s tech-focused private equity practice, as well as Orrick’s Santa Monica team,” said Justin. “Orrick’s core focus on technology companies and investors, combined with its leadership in innovative and efficient service delivery, is exactly what sponsors and their portfolio companies look for today in legal advisors.”

Justin was formerly a partner with the boutique firm Klee, Tuchin, Bogdanoff & Stern, representing sponsors and companies in various M&A and restructuring matters, and prior to that was a senior associate at Simpson Thacher.

Justin is the latest addition to the firm’s California M&A and PE team, following the hiring of Bryan Gadol in Orange County and Matthew Gemello in Silicon Valley. Orrick also announced this week the hiring of life sciences and tech advisor Gregg Griner to head its Boston corporate team.
