Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP has been named “Best International Firm Mentoring Program” at Euromoney Legal Media Group’s second annual Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2012, held November 22 in Hong Kong. The Euromoney Women in Business Law Awards recognizes leading lawyers in their chosen field, as well as firms that have shown outstanding achievement in supporting the development of women in the legal profession.

The “Best International Firm Mentoring Program” award recognizes Orrick’s innovative Women's Initiative, which supports the professional development needs of its women lawyers by, among other things, educating and informing all the firm's lawyers about issues impacting women in the practice of law. Orrick offers a number of programs and policies to recruit, promote and retain its women lawyers including its women's committee, women's affinity group, Parents' Forum, alternative work schedule policy, on-ramping program, paid membership in diverse professional associations, and sponsorship of and participation in women-focused seminars.

Asia managing partner and China office leader Michelle Taylor accepted the mentoring award on behalf of the firm. “Orrick’s lawyer development efforts mirror the culture and core values of the firm,” said Ms. Taylor. “Our goals are to allow your individual strengths to shine and to ensure you have the support needed to thrive, and we accomplish this through one-on-one coaching and mentoring.”  Ms. Taylor was a finalist in the “Best in Structured Finance” category.

Orrick was also named a finalist in three other categories, including “Best Gender Diversity Initiative by International Firm” in recognition of Orrick’s award-winning Women's Initiative, “Best International Firm for Work-Life Balance” and “Best International Firm for Talent Management” in recognition of the firm’s leadership involvement and Partner Sponsors Program.
