Philip Hwang is a managing associate in the Financial Securities Litigation team and sits in the Los Angeles Office.
Phil's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and securities and white-collar litigation and investigation. Phil represents both individuals and companies in federal and state courts, arbitration, and governmental investigations, including those by the SEC, DOJ, CFTC and state attorneys general. He has represented clients ranging from cryptocurrency brokerage and lending firms to biopharmaceutical companies.
Phil earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. In law school, he externed for the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California and the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Los Angeles Regional Office. Prior to law school, he was a paralegal at a boutique international arbitration firm in New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics from New York University, where he graduated with honors.
