Women’s Bar Association in Washington, D.C. Names Upnit Bhatti 2022 Shining Star

Congratulations to Orrick senior associate Upnit Bhatti on receiving the 2022 Mussey-Gillett Shining Star Award from the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia. A member of our Supreme Court & Appellate team, Upnit represents clients in federal and state courts, often embedding in trials as appellate counsel, and has made oral argument and co-authored briefs in state and federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Upnit also maintains an active pro bono practice, with a passion for immigration, racial justice and reproductive rights.

Upnit serves on the board of directors of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia and has chaired the group’s Amicus Committee and Advocacy Committee. She led the WBA’s amicus efforts in Dobbs and the Harvard/UNC cases. Upnit mentors law students and new lawyers through the Appellate Project and as a member of the Syracuse University College of Law Alumni Association’s Board of Directors.
