Orrick Advises When I Work on $200 Million Growth Investment

November.04.2021

Congratulations to our client When I Work, a leading provider of shift-based workforce management software, on its $200 million late stage venture financing.

Bain Capital Tech Opportunities led the round, which included participation from Arthur Ventures. The funds will be used to rapidly expand When I Work’s suite of employee-first software solutions to empower the modern workforce, pursue opportunistic acquisitions and enhance its category-defining position.

Founded in Minneapolis and now operating as a remote-first company, When I Work’s software delivers an employee-first experience to streamline scheduling, enhance internal communication and more efficiently track time. Since its founding in 2010, more than 10 million hourly employees have used the platform to view and swap shifts, clock in, view hours worked, request time off and communicate with their managers and co-workers.

The Orrick team advising When I Work was led by Karen Dempsey and Mark Seneca and includes Steve Malvey, Keith Tidwell, Derek Bhavsar and Fallon Griffin. Orrick previously advised When I Work on its $15 million Series B financing, as well as on corporate, trademark, technology transactions and other matters. We are extremely excited as the company looks forward to this new stage of growth with this capital.
