Orrick announced today that Mike O’Donnell, a leading advisor to the Life Sciences sector, has joined the firm as a partner in Silicon Valley. He is the 9th addition to the firm’s life sciences practice since 2019. Mike joins Orrick from Morrison & Foerster.
Mike brings 30+ years of experience advising public and private biopharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostic, instrumentation and life sciences companies at all stages. He has undertaken over 300 VC financings raising an estimated $7 billion for his clients, completed dozens of public offerings and represented clients in over 50 major collaborations with leading Big Pharma companies.

Orrick acts for more than 450 life sciences companies around the world. In 2019, the firm opened an office in Boston as a hub for its life sciences practice. Mike’s addition follows the arrivals of a number of life sciences advisors to the firm across its Patent, Technology Companies, Capital Markets and Tech Transactions practices, including Gargi Talukder from Morgan Lewis, David Schulman from Dechert, Gregg Griner and Albert Vanderlaan from Gunderson Dettmer, Stephen Thau, a former co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Life Sciences Group, Shana Solomon, formerly the General Counsel of Velocity Sciences, and Ed Lukins and Ed Dyson in London from Cooley.
